Description

Filipinos love different kinds of crrrispy pork belly! However, achieving the right crispy exterior while keeping it tasty might be a bit tricky. Worry no more as ready to cook Lechon Kawali has arrived - already boiled and ready in less than 15 minutes!

Lechon Kawali is a Filipino dish that involves deep-frying a seasoned slab of pork belly until it achieves a golden, crispy exterior. The term "lechon" in Lechon Kawali reflects the traditional Filipino method of roasting a whole pig. "Kawali" means pan, signifying the method of frying.

Cooking Instructions

Thaw before frying.

Deep fry: Pre-heat oil to 375°F. Deep fry 10-15 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.

Air fry: Pre-heat air fryer to 400°F. Air fry 30 minutes or until crispy and golden brown.

Rest for 10 minutes before serving. Must reach 165°F internal temperature.

Beyond being a festive dish, Lechon Kawali is a popular snack or "pulutan" during gatherings. Its crunchy texture makes it a favorite companion for beer. While it's enjoyed year-round, Lechon Kawali is a common feature during festive occasions, celebrations, and family gatherings, adding a crispy and savory touch to the feast.

Dipping Sauces

Lechon Kawali is often served with a variety of dipping sauces. These can range from a simple soy-vinegar dip to more elaborate sauces with garlic, onions, and even liver sauce.
